FAMILIES are being invited to enjoy a summer of outdoor adventures at Stover Country Park, with a programme of events offering opportunities to explore nature, get creative and discover more about the park’s wildlife and landscapes.

The popular Newton Abbot park has announced a series of activities taking place throughout August, with events designed to appeal to children, families and nature enthusiasts.

Younger visitors can enjoy a range of hands-on activities, including Toddler Forest Fun on Thursday, August 6 and Tuesday, August 18.

Aimed at children aged two to five, the sessions offer little ones the chance to explore the forest through play, with families welcome to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy around the campfire afterwards.

Older children can get creative during Woodland Crafts on Wednesday, August 12, where participants aged six and over can make their own creations using natural materials to take home.

Young explorers can also take part in the Bear Hunt Trail on Wednesday, August 19 and Thursday, August 20.

The self-led adventure invites children to follow a map around the park in search of hidden bears, with a small prize waiting at the end of the trail.

For those keen to learn more about the natural world, a Summer Wildflowers Guided Walk will take place on Tuesday, August 11.

The gentle stroll will explore the park’s seasonal flowers, along with their folklore and traditional uses.

The summer programme will conclude with a special Naturemake Summer Fairyhouse and Camp Workshop on Tuesday, August 25.

The two-hour crafting session will allow participants aged four and above to create miniature fairy houses and summer camps using natural materials including dried flowers, seed pods and shells.

Stover Country Park is encouraging visitors to book activities in advance as places are limited.
