A PLUMBER who was exposed to asbestos all his working life died in hospital.

Raymond Read, 85, who lived in Newton Abbot, was married and retired.

An inquest was opened at Devon Coroner's Court by senior coroner Philip Spinney who said Mr Read had been exposed to asbestos when he was working and was diagnosed with mesothelioma in January this year.

He died in Torbay Hospital last month from pneumonia and mesothelioma.

His inquest has been adjourned to a later date.
