NEARLY 50 schools across Teignbridge have shut up shop today as extreme snow and winds batter the district.

Youngsters will be ditching their school books and heading outside to enjoy a very rare snow day as Storm Emma rolled in from the Atlantic.

Secondary and primary schools and nurseries have closed up with a handful declaring they will not open tomorrow either.
