A record figure was drummed up for charity at Newton Abbot College recently as students put on a Christmas Fair.

The annual tradition, which saw 200 primary school pupils attend, raised nearly £800 for the college’s chosen charity, Torbay Hospital Special Care Baby Unit.

Organised by the business department at the college, students pulled out all the stops to ensure it was one of the best festive treats to date.

Twenty-two tables of Christmas goodies, raffles, activities and games filled the college’s hall, really getting the youngsters into the festive spirit.

The fair is just one of the many fundraising events the college held, helping students achieve its annual goal of £10,000 for the unit.

Teacher and fair organiser Laura Davey, was thrilled with how the day went.

She said: ‘The students all worked incredibly hard and delivered a welcoming and enjoyable experience for all involved.
