THERE’S plenty of Easter fun to be had in Newton Abbot today, Saturday.

Courtenay Street will provide the venue for free egg decorating, balloon modelling and face painting, all to the backdrop of live music from The Eddie Kingdom Jazz Quintet.

Also on offer during the 10am to 2pm festivities will be free Easter egg giveaways and walkabout fun from the town mascot Newton and ‘The Chef and Egg’ characters.

‘I can never resist a good pun so I’m confident in saying we’ll be having a cracking time in Newton Abbot this Easter,’ said Sally Henley, Town Development Manager ‘And as all the events are free no one will have to be shelling out either, what’s not to like?’

The fun got under way at the start of the month with the release of entry forms for the egg hunt, available from Newton Abbot Museum, Newton Abbot Library and the Mid-Devon Advertiser offices in Courtenay Street.

The 15 egg-themed objects pictured on the forms will be dotted around town, some in public buildings and others in shops and businesses.

Those taking part have to simply write down where they found them then hand in their completed entry to Newton Abbot Museum or Library by noon on Saturday, April 15.

The first correct entrant, selected at random, will win a £40 Austins Gift Card and Easter egg. The second will receive a £20 Austins voucher and Easter egg.

The winners will be contacted by phone and the prizes presented at Austins toy store on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 19.
