A BUSINESS in Bovey Tracey has been forced to close after a fire broke out at its storage yard this afternoon (Wednesday, July 8).
The Jolly Roger Lifesize Models announced on social media that it had suffered a fire at its storage yard, describing the incident as ‘devastating’ and confirming it would remain closed while it deals with the aftermath.
The company also thanked emergency services for their response.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service sent six fire appliances and an aerial ladder platform to a warehouse unit on St John's Lane, where firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control using multiple water jets.
A large plume of smoke was visible across the area, prompting fire crews to advise nearby residents to keep their windows and doors closed.
The fire also caused significant disruption to traffic, with the A382 Monks Way closed in both directions between the B3387 and Moretonhampstead Road. Long queues formed as emergency services remained at the scene.
The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed
The Mid-Devon Advertiser has contacted Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service for further information.
