IT was the beginning of the end for the Carlton Theatre.

The demolition men moved in on Tuesday to start knocking down the crumbling old building, which has served Teignmouth well for years, but was long past its sell-by date.

Within a month the prime corner seafront site will be flattened by Weaver Demolition, ready for a new entertainment complex to rise.
