TWO sections of a cycling and walking route in Dawlish will be closed for essential maintenance.

The short closures are planned for the Exe Estuary Trail for surface maintenance and bollard improvements at the end of September.

The work is expected to require a closure of about one day at each location, and each section will reopen as soon as work there is complete.

The planned closures are: Eastdon, including Dawlish Bridleway No. 42: Tuesday and Wednesday 29 and 30 September and Lady’s Mile, including Dawlish Bridleway No. 4: Wednesday September 30 to Thursday October 1.

There will be no through access on the affected sections while work is taking place.

A spokesman for Devon County Council which is carrying out the work said: ‘People who use the trail should plan their journeys accordingly.

‘Access to land and premises on or next to the closed sections will be maintained.

‘We appreciate the inconvenience this will cause and thank people for their patience while the work is carried out.’
