DEPUTY mayor of Newton Abbot, Cllr Ann Jones, will be taking to the small screen next week on a popular BBC show.

The town and district councillor will be having her 15 minutes of fame with husband Chris during an episode of daytime programme Bargain Hunt.

The duo, who made up the red team, spent two days filming in Topsham and Ottery St Mary.

Ann said: ‘It was a brilliant two days. Our expert Gary Pe was lovely, as were the whole team. They made us feel very welcome.

‘The day in Topsham was excellent and as I like a bargain or two, I enjoyed haggling for two of the items.

‘It was really interesting to see how the programme is filmed.

‘It was a long day but very worthwhile. The auction was quite an experience – and a bit nail-biting, too.’

The couple, who run an accountancy practice in the town, wouldn’t let on if they had won or not.

The episode is set to air on Friday, March 31 at 12.15pm.
