MICK FLORY, chairman, Teignmouth RAFA branch, writes:

Well done everybody who was involved in organising and participating in this year's Teignmouth Armed Forces Day. It was a great occasion with a wonderful atmosphere and the weather was on our side – just!

Much credit for this event must go to Geoff Bladon, Nick Maylem, Flying Officer Linda Bell ATC, and the committee who planned and set it in motion, with the support of Teignmouth and Teignbridge councils.

Syd Little, with our local entertainers and Ian Parkes, did a wonderful job. Teignmouth certainly does have talent – you were all brilliant.

Our local air, sea and army cadets all helped to make it a special day, besides helping to put up tents etc. They are organisations that provide a healthy interest and outlook for the younger members of our community and well worth becoming members of. In particular might I respectfully add that the Teignmouth Air Cadets could, with more members, assume full squadron status.

Last but not least I would like to mention, and say thank you, to the girls who, on behalf of the Teignmouth branch of the Royal Air Forces Association, worked very hard in the refreshment tent.

On behalf of the RAFA, my thanks to you all – despite let-downs and problems that always occur, you are to be congratulated for organising a great day.
