MORRISONS is coming to Teignmouth, it has finally been agreed.
Work could start on the £12m project which includes a 4,000m sq store, petrol filling station and 285 car parking spaces within weeks.
Teignbridge councillors gave the scheme unanimous support at the planning committee on Monday.
The supermarket giant was praised as being 'an exemplary partner' to the council, although fears were also raised about traffic congestion and the impact the store could have on independent food retailers.
Speaking to members, Jonathan Stubbs representing Morrisons, concentrated on the positives: more than 200 new jobs swelling to nearly 300 in the summer and structured training programmes for the long-term unemployed.
