COASTGUARDS in Dawlish are warning people to check tide times after responding to two incidents involving casualties cut off by the tide.

In the first, the Dawlish team was called to help colleagues in Exmouth where two people were cut off by the tide on rocks in the resort.

Then on Tuesday, just before 8pm, the alarm was raised again when four people and a dog were cut off by the tide at Dawlish Warren.

As the team were arriving on scene, colleagues from Exmouth lifeboat were able to get to the casualties in their inshore lifeboat.

A spokesman for Dawlish Coastguards said: ‘Both these shouts included people getting cut off by the tide.

‘As the weather warms and the sun makes more appearances, please remember to check the tide times to prevent situations like this.’
