TEIGNBRIDGE District Council has added its condolences following the death of Dawlish councillor Mike James which was announced earlier today.

A spokesman said: ‘It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Councillor Mike James of the Dawlish South West Ward.’

Cllr James was elected to Teignbridge District Council in 2023. He also served as a Dawlish town councillor and had previously been a Councillor in Torbay.

As well as his dedication to civic duty, Mike was passionate about healthcare and had volunteered as a governor for Torbay and South Devon NHS.

Chairman of Teignbridge District Council, Cllr Robert Steemson, said: ‘Mike will be remembered as a dedicated councillor who was committed to helping his community.

‘Our thoughts and condolences are with Mike’s family, friends, colleagues and all who knew him.’
