A VEHICLE fire on the A383 near Newton Abbot last night (Tuesday, May 5) saw firefighters from Ashburton mobilised.
Crew from Ashburton Fire Station were called shortly before 8.30pm to reports of the car fire, while both appliances from Newton Abbot Fire Station were busy with a fire in town centre.
The Ashburton-based crew put the fire out using a hose reel jet, with two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.
The vehicle was severely damaged by the fire, which was caused due to a mechanical fault, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service confirmed.
Duty of care was left with the owner, the fire service went on to say.
