Deputy mayor of Newton Abbot, Cllr Mike Joyce, was delighted to visit the Newton Abbot branch of Argos with Sally Henley, town development manager, to carry out an official ribbon cutting.

The store in Queen Street has recently undergone a complete refurbishment of the sales floor, including new tablets and visual display screens and a much more customer-friendly service area.

Paula Holmes, Sainsbury’s Argos regional manager, said: ‘We are delighted with the refurbishment. The Sainsbury’s Argos aim is to ensure that all our customers have a consistent shopping experience across our brand and as such the Newton Abbot store is now in our new digital format. This ensures all our customers can access all of our services and products quickly and easily.’

Alistair Cameron, branch manager, said: ‘The store team and I were very pleased that our branch had been chosen for refurbishment. We think that the store looks superb and we have had very positive comments from customers.’

Deputy mayor, Cllr Mike Joyce, said: I would like to thank Sainsbury’s Argos for its investment in our Newton Abbot store.

‘It is a very positive initiative and investment such as this demonstrates its confidence in high street trading and its confidence in Newton Abbot as a town.’

Sally Henley, town development manager, said: ‘Argos is an important anchor business in our town. The refit has made a massive difference and the store feels bright and contemporary. I was particularly pleased that the refit didn’t stop at the interior and the exterior too now looks fresh and is a credit to the town.’
