BOLLARDS along a Newton Abbot street have been given a make-over to mark Remembrance Day.

Several of Union Street’s ornamental bollards have been painted green and red to resemble poppies, with others having been spray-painted with a stencil outlining a soldier, ahead of November’s memorial day.

Painted by artist Amanda Richards, the make-over of the bollards in Union Street comes ahead of a further planned make-over, where they will be painted bright colours with designs made by local school children.

The embellishment project was officially unveiled on Wednesday, October 22, with Richard Underhill, Chairman of the Newton Abbot branch of the Royal British Legion and Newton Abbot Mayor, Cllr Colin Parke, being shown the bollards.
