A BANNED driver has been told to expect a jail sentence after he was caught on the A380 at Newton Abbot using a driving licence in the name of a fellow Romanian.

Grigore Tiosa, aged 29, of Homefield Road, Exeter, pleaded guilty to possession of an identification document with improper intent when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court by video link from the city’s prison.

He also admitted driving a Mercedes Vito van on the A380 at Newton Abbot while disqualified on December 12 last year and driving without insurance.

Judge David Evans remanded him in custody and ordered a pre-sentence report but told him: ‘The overwhelming likelihood is that you will receive an immediate sentence of imprisonment.’
