FIREFIGHTERS in Newton Abbot recently honed their ladder pitching skills during a training session at the Courtenay Centre.
The crew used the Centre to practise pitching both the 13.5 metre and 10.5 metre ladders at standard, over obstruction and restricted access pitches.
A spokesperson for the station said: ‘Pictured above is an over obstruction pitch.
‘We always aim to have three to five rounds above where we wish to pitch the ladder, and although this was on the high side, crews quickly rectified this mistake, reducing the height with little hesitation.
‘We would like to take this opportunity to thank The Courtenay Centre for allowing us to use your building as a training venue.
‘It is always greatly appreciated’.
