A WOMAN suffered life threatening injuries after a crash at Whistley Hill Cross near Ashburton yesterday (Tuesday).

The 51-year-old local woman was airlifted to Derriford Hospital after the single vehicle accident on a downhill section of the unclassified road shortly after 10am.

Fire engines from Ashburton, Buckfastleigh and an Incident Support Vehicle from Bovey Tracey were all sent to the report of the Road Traffic Collision. 

Crews confirmed that this was a single vehicle crash and it was on its side.

One woman was released by fire crews and treated by paramedics on scene.

A police spokesperson later said: ‘The incident involved a 51-year-old local female. The casualty suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital.

‘Police attended the scene and an examination took place.

‘Inquiries are ongoing to establish the nature of her journey.

‘Any persons with knowledge of this collision is requested to contact police on 101 and quote log number DCP-20201110-0225.’
