THIEVES forced open the disabled access door to get into a coupled carriage on a platform at the South Devon Railway’s Buckfastleigh Station.

Once inside they forced locks and opened cupboards, going from coach to coach and then broke the locks on the buffet car where they helped themselves to a quantity of wine.

Staff and volunteers at the railway are assessing the cost of the damage and trying to establish exactly what was stolen.

The theft occurred between 6.15pm on Tuesday, March 29, and 6.45am on Wednesday, March 30, and police want to hear from anyone who saw anybody acting suspiciously in or near the station to contact them.
