A KAYAKER was assisted by the RNLI Teignmouth lifeboat crew after she capsized in the River Teign and was returned safely to shore.
The launch request was received at 10.06am on Monday and the volunteer crew were promptly on scene.
A spokesperson for the RNLI said: ‘The kayaker had launched from Shaldon, across the river from Teignmouth, with the intention of crossing the channel.
‘However, the kayaker got into difficulty as the tide was taking her out to sea and caused her to capsize.
‘The lifeboat crew found the kayaker and returned her safely to shore.
‘The crew returned to station and the lifeboat was ready for service again by 10.55am.’
