POLICE are investigating a report of a serious sexual assault in the multi-storey car park in Sherborne Road, Newton Abbot, in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).

The alleged incident happened between midnight and 1.50am.

A police spokesperson said: ‘The victim, a woman aged in her late teens, is being supported by specially-trained officers.

‘A police cordon remains in place at the scene.

‘A 20-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and remains police custody while inquiries continue.’
