POLICE are hunting an escaped prisoner from Channings Wood this afternoon (April 8).

They have issued an appeal for help from the public in catching 24-year-old Miley Connors, serving eight years for burglary.

They have warned people not to approach the fugitive, but to ring 999 straight away.

Connors (pictured) managed to flee from the Denbury jail in a getaway car just before 9am.

Three others were in the vehicle which officers later found abandoned.

A police spokesman said: ‘Anyone who sees Connors is asked not to approach him and to call 999 immediately.’

He added: ‘Inquires remain ongoing to locate and arrest Connors. He was last seen wearing a grey sweat shirt and blue jeans or trousers. He is a white male, around 5ft 10ins tall and has an Irish accent.’

The spokesman thanked members of the public who helped Channings Wood prison staff in quickly gaining valuable details of the car and its occupants.

Anyone who sees Connors - or knows of his whereabouts - is asked not to approach him and to contact police immediately on 999, quoting log 173 of April 8.
