A MOTORCYCLIST was seriously hurt in a road smash on the Newton Abbot to Teignmouth road at Bishopsteignton this morning. Two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle attended the crash scene at Bishopsteignton after a 999 call was received at 9.28am.

It’s thought the motorcycle had been in collision with a van. Police said the A381 was likely to be closed for ‘some time.’ The casualty, who was in cardiac arrest, received CPR before being airlifted by Devon Air Ambulance to Plymouth's Derriford Hospital.

Police set up diversions to ease congestion around the scene.

A spokesman said this afternoon that the rider 'was in a serious condition' in hospital.
