Firefighters from Newton Abbot, Ashburton and Buckfastleigh have been involved in helping tackle a thatch fire at a pub near Kingsbridge.

Crews were called just after midnight on Sunday to the Tradesmans Arms pub in Stokenham.

The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen and has affected the pub and three terraced thatch properties.

All people have been evacuated and there were 12 fire engines at the scene.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus are tackling the fire to bring it under control.

By 11am, five fire appliances were still at the scene and crews have been using main jets and breathing apparatus.
