A MAN in his 60s was treated for serious injuries after being assaulted at a Teignmouth bus stop.

It is understood the attack was filmed and posted on social media.

Officers in the town have reassured residents that the assault is being investigated and there is an ‘increased presence’ within the town.

Police are now appealing for information following the ‘serious’ assault which left the man with multiple injuries including cuts and bruises to his face and head.

The incident happened when the man was said to have been assaulted by two women at the bus stop in Wellington Street.

A police spokesman said he was ‘punched and kicked and fell to the ground, hitting his head’.

The man was treated at Torbay Hospital for his injuries.

Police are investigating the incident which happened between 8.20pm and 8.30pm on Wednesday August 17.

Two teenage girls were arrested on suspicion of assault.

One girl has been bailed until September 9 and the other has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
