A HOUSE and garage went up in flames at Kennford yesterday evening (Wednesday).

Fire control received numerous calls to a garage well alight in Kennford.

Firefighters from Newton Abbot and Teignmouth were at the scene.

A spokesperson for the Devon Fire and Rescue Service said four fire appliances from Middlemoor, Topsham and two from Danes Castle attended initially and quickly requested a further two appliances from Newton Abbot and Teignmouth and the aerial ladder platform from Torquay.

‘Crews confirmed that the main domestic property was well alight along with the garage which was attached to the property.

‘Crews are using four covering jets, three hose reel jets and four breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.

‘Western power have been requested to attend this incident to isolate the electrics and crews are using hydrants in the vicinity of the property.

‘This incident is ongoing and will be updated as we receive more information.’
