ENGLAND winger Immanuel Feyi-Waboso will undergo a scan this week after suffering a suspected hamstring injury during Exeter Chiefs’ 34-28 Premiership victory over Newcastle Red Bulls at Sandy Park on Sunday.
The 23-year-old was forced off 15 minutes into the second half as the Chiefs secured their first league win of the season.
Feyi-Waboso had started all three of the Chiefs’ Premiership matches, scoring twice in last week’s defeat by Bath.
He also started all three of England’s Nations Championship fixtures over the summer, scoring tries against Fiji and Argentina.
England head coach Steve Borthwick was among the spectators watching at Sandy Park as concerns emerged over the winger’s fitness ahead of the November internationals against Australia, Japan and New Zealand.
Chiefs’ director of rugby Rob Baxter said: “It feels like he’s overloaded his hamstring a little bit. I don’t think it’s catastrophic. We’ll get him scanned and assess it over the week. I’d say it’s more of a concern than a long-term worry at this stage.”
Feyi-Waboso missed this year’s Six Nations with a hamstring injury before a shoulder problem ended his previous season early.
