Since starting up in May this year, Newton Abbot-based Maverick Runners have gone from strength to strength and now boasts 35 members, with many more runners joining their regular run training sessions.

From the start, the Mavericks decided to buck the trend of the traditional club structure, with no formal club committee or annual membership subs. Instead, each member pays a one-off joining fee and then enjoys equal status with an equal stake in the collective running of the club.

Following trials of different designs for their running kit, the Mavericks have settled on a new design, which heavily features the club ‘wolf’ logo, which follows the theme of being a Maverick – or a lone wolf. The club colours of ‘fire red’ and ‘old gold’ and kit design was agreed by all members.

The distinctive club kit has been sponsored by Classic Windows and Conservatories of Chudleigh, and by Lee Accounting, which is a small firm of certified accountants, based in Kingsteignton.
