Although it has been a good golfing year for many Stover Golf Club ladies, it was an outstanding 12 months for Lou Vassie.

Lou, who only started playing golf two years ago at the age of 64, amassed so many trophies she had her very own prize table at the ladies’ section’s annual meeting and prize-giving.

She is a scuba diving instructor and enjoys playing squash, although she no longer has time for badminton!

Lou has already achieved a handicap of 16 in such a short time, so who knows how low she will go next year!

Out on the course, the ladies played their second winter four-ball better-ball competition.

The winners with a fine haul of 39 points were Lesley Pascoe and Anne-marie Cleave. In second place were Sarah Hoff and Lou Vassie with 38, on countback from Jane Vooght and Hilary Richards. Kelly-anne Harvey and Linda Farrant were fourth with 37 points, and Paula Crossfield and Rickie Pawsey a point back in fifth place.
