NEWTON Abbot Spurs and Teignmouth AFC both concluded their respective SWPL Premier East campaigns with defeats on the road.

Spurs were beaten in a seven-goal thriller away at fellow high-flyers Bridport FC on Saturday, April 25.

Bridport, who were already guaranteed a second-placed finish, won 4-3 at St Mary’s Field and not for the first time this season, had Sol Ayunga to thank for it.

On the other side, Toby Pullman added two more goals to his Spurs tally but was narrowly beaten to the golden boot by Bovey Tracey’s Levi Landricombe, for whom the last month or two has been electric.

Talking of Bovey and although the game was supposed to take place at Teignmouth’s Coombe Valley, they hosted Liam Jones’ side on Thursday (Apr 23) and won 4-2. Owen Hanks and Ryan Tresidder scored the Teignmouth goals.

In the final standings, Newton Spurs are fifth and Teigns are 14th.
