THE SW Peninsula League Premier East’s South Devon trio experienced differing fortunes on Saturday, March 21.

Bishops Lydeard, who performed far better against Bovey Tracey AFC than their league position would suggest a few weeks ago, proved a difficult opponent for Newton Abbot Spurs.

Marky Jones scored the only goal of the game as Spurs were beaten on home soil at The Rec.

Meanwhile, the aforementioned Bovey were able to keep the pressure on Bridport FC with a win over Torridgeside AFC. They have two players in the division’s top-five scorers currently and both added to their tally, Stuart Bowker notching twice to steady the ship after Owen Stockton’s sending off and Ollie Aplin then adding the third.

Last but not least, Teignmouth AFC travelled to Ilminster Town and the spoils were shared at the Archie Gooch Pavilion in a 1-1 draw.

This weekend, Spurs visit Okehampton Argyle on the Friday night and on Saturday, Bovey host Crediton United and Teignmouth are at home against Torrington AFC.
