WHILST Newton Abbot Spurs are on their travels for Marc Revell’s first game back in charge, Buckland Athletic and Teignmouth AFC have home fixtures to look forward to tomorrow.
Kicking things off in the Western League with the Bucks welcoming Street FC to The VX3 Stadium.
Last week’s trip to Oldland Abbotonians was postponed fell victim of the weather and so Matt Cusack will be keen for his side to get back out there and put points on the board.
After a shaky spell in November, Buckland have picked up seven points from their last three league outings, including a 9-0 drubbing of strugglers AFC St. Austell. Prior to that, they rescued a late point at Saltash United and then beat Ivybridge Town on Boxing Day courtesy of a Ryan Bush brace.
Street are currently 14th in the standings, nine places and 15 points worse off than their opponents for the weekend but they did get a point in the reverse fixture. In a high-scoring affair it ended 3-3 at The Tannery Ground with Scott Pocock, Cam Sangster and Jack Baxter on target for the yellows.
Buckland will be looking to go one better and secure another victory on their mission for a top five finish.
Onto the SW Peninsula League now and as previously mentioned, Teignmouth will also be playing in front of their own supporters.
Liam Jones and co will fancy their chances when Bishops Lydeard come to town, the Somerset side being one of two big strugglers in the division.
Axminster Town are yet to pick up a point and Bishops are ahead of them on seven, having beaten the Tigers and Torridgeside AFC in November as well as drawing at Cullompton Rangers the month prior.
Teignmouth meanwhile have given a great account of themselves in their last two outings, winning 4-0 away at high-flyers Bridport FC in one of the standout performances of the season before narrowly losing out to an equally impressive Cullompton team.
On the other hand, leaders Bovey Tracey AFC are going on the road tomorrow, as are a Newton Spurs side with a different, yet familiar face in the technical area.
Following the departure of Connor Marshall, Marc Revell has returned to the club and will get his new tenure underway against Ilminster Town at the Archie Gooch Pavilion.
Spurs won the reverse at The Rec as Chris Harvey and Toby Pullman found the back of the net and league position certainly favours them as well.
Last but not least, Bovey Tracey will cross paths with Okehampton Argyle for the third time already in 2025/26, having beaten them 4-0 in both the league and St Luke’s Challenge Cup previously.
Argyle’s struggles this term have been well-documented but the Moorlanders won’t show any mercy at Simmons Park, after all, their unbeaten record in all competitions may have ended but they are still yet to be bested in league action.
Ollie Aplin scored goals 99,100 and 101 for the club as they swept aside Axminster last weekend and he will be one of a few forward players keen to add to their respective tallies.
