The historic racecourse at Buckfastleigh, situated alongside the A38 is the venue for this weekend’s rearranged point-to-point horse racing fixture which takes place on Sunday.

The course plans to stage the first of the pony race series, with two races – one for 138cm-and-under ponies followed by the 148cm-and-under ponies, sponsored by Toad Hall Cottages.

With a start time of 11am, there are nine ponies entered in each race and could well produce some jockey stars for the future.

More than 100 entries have been received for the main six-race card, which starts at noon and includes the Totnes and Bridgetown-sponsored £1,000 West Country Champion Chase Mixed Open, which has attracted 20 quality entries from all over the country.
