SEVEN junior sailors from Teign Corinthian Yacht Club joined the South West Tera Academy for winter training.

Paignton Sailing Club played host to the first session of on the water training at the weekend.

More than 30 children aged between nine and 14 took to the water in single-handed Tera and Topper dinghies, coached by a team of six Royal Yachting Association (RYA) coaches, including RS Tera world champion Will Taylor.

‘Having a world champion on the water, along with a team of RYA coaches, the academy is giving the next generation of Ben Ainslie’s a fantastic opportunity to learn advanced techniques without having to travel hundreds of miles,’ said Ben Miles from the Teignmouth club, and one of the academy founders.
