ONE of the world’s oldest traction engines made an appearance in this year’s Teignmouth Carnival procession on Thursday night.
The Burrell Patent Traction Engine, believed to be built in 1899, was steaming through the streets of the seaside town as hundreds of punters lined the streets for the annual spectacle.
Teignmouth train enthusiast Thomas Mills, who took this picture, said: ‘I never thought in my wildest dreams I would ever see a traction engine go down the high street and straight down to the docks.
‘This is a very rare sight.’SEE ROUND-UP OF CARNIVAL PICTURES TAKEN BY OUR PHOTOGRAPHER IN NEXT WEEK'S TEIGNMOUTH POST, AUGUST 4.
