HIGHWAYS bosses building the new South Devon link road expect the dual carriageway to be open before Christmas.
There had been hopes the £110 million road, the largest highways project in the south west, would have been open by the autumn as contractor Galliford Try had been ahead of schedule.
Bad weather has hampered progress and no exact date has been confirmed for the opening of the long-awaited 5.5km route; however, the road is nearly complete and due to open to traffic in the next few weeks.
A spokesman for Galliford Try said: ’Work on the South Devon Link Road is on schedule and due for completion earlier than the original anticipated date of the end of December 2015.’
