A WOMAN from Dawlish escaped unhurt when her car flipped over on its roof in Teignmouth yesterday (wed).

She was able to scramble free of her upturned blue Mazda after the accident on the Dawlish Road just after 4pm.

Police, paramedics and firefighters attended the incident which did not involve any other vehicles.

The woman was checked over at the scene by an ambulance crew.

Emergency services were alerted just before 4.10pm to deal with the accident which happened near the junction with The Rowdens.

Police closed the road at its junction with New Road while the crash scene was cleared. It re-opened two hours later.

A fire spokesman said initial reports suggested the occupant of the overturned car was still in the vehicle.

Two fire crews from the resort made the vehicle safe before leaving the incident in the care of paramedics.
