TEIGNMOUTH shoppers will soon be able to choose from another major supermarket chain.
Waitrose is coming to town after taking over the large Co-op store in Lower Brook Street in a deal believed to be worth nearly £1 million.
It will mean the resort will have four of the top brands – the smaller Co-op convenience store staying in Bank Street, a Tesco Express in Bitton Park Road, and a Morrisons at Broadmeadow.
An assurance has been given that no jobs will be lost, and more staff could be recruited.
A councillor believes the arrival will boost overall trade in Teignmouth, and Waitrose said it had been targeting Teignmouth for some time.
