TEIGNMOUTH residents turned out in force to help clear debris from their battered and bruised seafront.

More than 70 people of all ages arrived with shovels, wheelbarrows, brooms and other equipment on Sunday to sweep up sand and shingle, and move heavy chunks of concrete and rocks smashed by massive waves from recent storms.

The clean-up was organised by Cllr David Cox.

Some knew nothing about the clean-up until they went for a stroll on the prom, and rolled up their sleeves to help.
