AN APPEAL has gone out for help keep Exminster full of wildflowers.

Volunteers at Exminster Green Spaces need help tomorrow, Saturday, to rake over the verge at the northern entrance to the village.

A spokesman explained: ‘The grass verge at the village northern entrance is a really valuable and lovely wildflower hotspot, especially in the spring, firstly with the primroses followed by the ox eye daisies, with lots of other goodies in the mix including marsh orchids.

'It is intentionally left uncut over the summer but now is the time to cut the vegetation back and it has just been mown.

‘To maintain the low fertility enjoyed by many wildflowers, it is really important to try and rake off the cut material and the Exminster Greenspaces team are planning to do some raking on Saturday morning from 10 am.

'The more hands we have the shorter the job.

‘If you would like to help maintain the wildflowers and can help with grass rake and gloves, do lend a hand if you can.

‘Your help will be appreciated.’
