A CALL has gone out for volunteers in Dawlish to help during one of the biggest national sporting events in Devon.

British Cycling is to host the Dawlish Grand Prix as part of its elite road and circuit calendar.

Now Dawlish Town Council is appealing for volunteers to help in what is one of the largest pro-sports events in the south west this year.

No experience is required but this is a chance to get up close and involved.

A council spokesman said: ‘We need your help to make this event a huge success.’

Dawlish has been chosen as one of six rounds of the fast-paced National Circuit Series which will deliver thrilling town centre racing.

The races are among crowd favourites for cycling enthusiasts.

Volunteers are needed to help set up gazebos in the morning at 9am, help out at the information booths, pass out refreshments and run small errands.

They are also needed to help monitor the race track course and street intersections as well as pack up in the evening.

The race takes place on Friday July 25.

Volunteers will need to wear comfortable shoes and all will be provided with snacks and refreshments during their shift.

There will be four shifts throughout the day.

The race will take place in the town centre around the Lawn, up The Strand and back around Brunswick.

The event series brings the country’s top riders to the forefront of elite domestic competition.

A spokesman for Dawlish Town Council said: ‘We are super excited to announce that the town of Dawlish will be a part of the British Cycling Race Series in 2025.

‘The streets of Dawlish will come alive with professional cyclists from all over the country to compete in the 2025 Dawlish Grand Prix, the final race in the series.’
