SHALDON is a divided village, thanks to a road that has been closed for three months.

All traffic and pedestrians have been banned from Marine Parade which connects the main village with the Ness area since January, after a cliff fall blocked the narrow road which runs alongside the estuary.

It is the main link between the two parts of the community, and traders say they are suffering.

'It has gone on long enough, and the county council should have sorted out all the problems by now,' said restaurateur Tim Bouget.
