THE FINAL phase of gas works in Holcombe is underway.
The last part of work to upgrade gas pipes in the Teignmouth Road area of Holcombe by Wales & West Utilities is now starting.
The three week phase of work starts on June 9 and is part of a wider scheme which began in March.
It is essential to keep the gas flowing reliably to homes and businesses.
The gas emergency and pipeline service has liaised with Devon County Council to plan the work and it has been agreed that rolling two-way traffic lights will be in place on the junction of Teignmouth Road and Hall Lane, and these will roll up past the junction of Teignmouth Road and Fordens Lane.
Wales & West Utilities Roxanne Whittaker is managing this work and said: ‘We have made good progress to upgrade the gas pipes in the area, and this final section will bring the project to a close.
‘We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.
‘While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across the area.
‘We understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.
‘This work is essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport hydrogen and biomethane, so we can all play our part in a green future.’
