RESIDENTS in Newton Abbot are being invited to take part in a vigil in support of war-torn Ukraine.
Saturday March 5’s event is being organised by Newton Crisis Aid and will take place at noon at Newton Abbot war memorial opposite the Avenue Church.
Anyone attending is asked to wear yellow or blue, if they can.
A two-minute silence will be held in support of refugees and those battling the Russian invasion.
NCA chairman Andrew Rose explained: ‘We’ve been working with refugees over the last six years and we decided we should hold this vigil for people who feel they want to do something public to support the cause and get together to demonstrate solidarity with people in Ukraine.
‘As a charity we are exploring ways we can support them practically with fund raising.’
NCA will also be distributing leaflets of the organisation and an invitation to meet to discuss how help can be arranged.
The meeting will take place on Monday March 7 at 7pm at the Avenue Church.
