A MAN from Newton Abbot has been arrested this morning, Thursday, July 17 following an assault in Torquay.

Police were called to Teignmouth Road, Torquay, at around 6.45am on Tuesday, July 15 following a report of a man having been assaulted.

‘A scene guard was put in place and the victim was taken to hospital having suffered multiple injuries’, says a spokesperson for Devon & Cornwall Police.

A man in his 40s from Torquay was arrested shortly after on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He has been released on police bail.

A second man, also in his 40s, was arrested this morning on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

The man, who is from Newton Abbot, remains in police custody at this time, the Mid-Devon Advertiser understands.
