Irish travellers abandoned a puppy after leaving a Teignmouth car park where they camped for more than a week.
The dog was found cowering in rubbish by Cllr Dave Matthews, who took it home, and has now decided to adopt the Jack Russell cross, which he has named Rebar. They are shown left.
He runs a construction comapny and intends to take the pup to work with him. Rebar is the name of a resilient steel bar.
'It was among a lot of empty boxes, and was very scared and skinny, and suffering from cuts. I bought some food for him and will give him a good home.
