IDYLLIC lodges set in a vineyard overlooking the River Teign are set to feature in the current series of a popular Channel 4 programme this week.

The contemporary holiday lodges at Old Walls Vineyard in Bishopsteignton take the starring role in Thursday’s (March 18) edition of Four in a Bed.

For those who haven’t seen it the programme features four pairs of bed and breakfast owners putting their reputations on the line by staying at each other’s establishments.

They pay only what they deem to be an acceptable amount for the experience, with one establishment being named as the best value.

‘Channel 4 approached us and asked if were interested in participating and we thought, why not,’ said Justin Head, who along with business partner Michael Smyth features in this week’s programmes.

‘We saw it as being a great learning curve and a chance to see how others do things.

‘We’ve only been in the business for five years so are relative newcomers to it compared to some.’

For the week-long challenge the duo found themselves up against a pub in Holsworthy, a bed and breakfast farmhouse at Merriott in Somerset and an inn at Minehead in Somerset. As to whether they won or not Justin is keeping that close to his chest.

‘Let’s just say we had a lot of fun with some very nice people,’ he added.

The winner will be revealed in the final programme this Friday (March 19) at 5pm on Channel 4.
