TRAINS are now running normally between Newton Abbot and Paignton after a car crashed into a bridge earlier today, Friday, May 16.

The line was blocked from around 11.30am after a car crashed in a bridge near Paignton, Network Rail said.

The operator announced that trains were cancelled while it carried out an inspection of the bridge.

The disruption was expected to last until around 1.30pm, however Network Rail had the issues resolved just before 1pm.
