Fines for train ticket offences
THE following people were fined for not producing train tickets when required or for not having a train ticket.
They have received fines from South and West Devon Magistrates' Court
- John Bennett, aged 30, of Bunting Close, Teignmouth, was fined £440 for not handing over a ticket when asked to do so at Teignmouth. The case was proved in his absence and he must pay costs of £180, compensation of £4.40 and £176 to fund victim services.
- Alan Caldwell, aged 36, of Newton Road, Torquay, was fined £220 for travelling at Newton Abbot without a valid ticket. The case was proved in his absence. He must pay costs of £180, compensation of £10.20 and £88 to fund victim services.
- Maria Dennis, aged 39, of Morgan Avenue, Torquay, was fined £220 for travelling on a GWR train without having paid her fare. The case was proved in her absence. She must pay £180 in costs, compensation of £18.60 and £88 to fund victim services.
- Shakira Paris Dyson, aged 20, of Morgan Avenue, Torquay, was fined £220 for travelling on a GWR train at Newton Abbot without having paid her fare. The case was proved in her absence. She must also pay costs of £180, compensation of £18.60 and £88 to fund victim services.
- Ziggy Fakih, aged 34, of Tamworth Close, Newton Abbot, was fined £180 for failing to hand over a ticket for inspection at Newton Abbot when asked. The case was proved in his absence. He must also pay costs of £180, compensation of £16.80 and £72 to fund victim services.
- Christopher Locke, aged 41, of West Golds Way, Newton Abbot, faced two charges of travelling on a GWR train at Newton Abbot without paying his fare of £5.60. The cases were proved in his absence. He was fined £440 for the first offence and £220 for the second. He must pay compensation on each charge of £5.60 and costs of £180. He must also pay £176 and a further £88 to fund victim services.
- Lee William Rason, aged 45, of Belgrave Road, Torquay, was fined £220 for travelling on a GWR train at Newton Abbot without paying his fare of £46. The case was proved in his absence. He must also pay costs of £180, compensation of £46 and £88 to fund victim services.
- Kym Reader, aged 26, of Newton Road, Torquay, was fined £440 for entering a train at Newton Abbot without a valid ticket. The case was proved in his absence. He was fined £440 and ordered to pay compensation of £10.20, costs of £180 and £176 to fund victim services. No separate penalty was made for a charge of using threatening, abusive, obscene or offensive language on the railway at Newton Abbot.
- Nick Tooley, aged 52, of Elm Grove Road, Dawlish, was fined £180 for failing to hand over a ticket for inspection at Teignmouth. The case was proved in his absence. He must pay compensation of £6.80, costs of £180 and £72 to fund victim services.
